Madia Air by Lago

Container furniture is a functional and useful element in different areas of the house, here are some capacious and interesting designs

At home and in the office the space for storage is never too much and a piece of furniture with this function always proves useful to accommodate all our things. But what characteristics should it have? Surely it must be designed with care, both inside and outside. Because it must have an attractive design and therefore an interesting aspect but also an internal organization that helps us to keep the content in order. Shelves and drawers must be suitable for the objects they will accommodate, which is why, when choosing, it is a good idea to also take a look inside. Let’s not forget that the storage unit is also a support surface to be enhanced with decorative and functional objects: from crystal vases to table lamps. Here are some examples of storage units designed for the different rooms of the house: the living room, the dining area, the bedroom and the entrance are just a few examples.

Air sideboard by Daniele Lago for Lago

In the iconic Air collection by Lago we also find the sideboard, or rather, an evolution of this classic furniture in an “Air” key with the characteristic structural insert in tempered glass that seems to make the upper element of the cabinet float. The containers are drawer or flap and the two levels can be either placed in axis or misaligned for a more dynamic result.

Progetti Compiuti by Shiro Kuramata for Cappellini

The Progetti Compiuti series includes a series of containers of different shapes and sizes. In this image, the larger version, in which the drawers, sorted by size, become an attractive decorative motif. After all, the different size allows us to adapt the container to the content and helps us to keep everything in order.

Alcor by Antonio Citterio for Maxalto

The combinations of drawers, shelves and cabinets, and the chromatic variations solve the need for storage that we have in every room with extreme elegance. The alternation of closed and visible, flap and hinged elements allow us to configure Alcor in the way that suits us best. The contrasting handles are the aesthetic and functional detail that makes the difference.

Scrigno by Fernando and Huberto Campana for Edra

Of great scenic effect, the Scrigno sideboard presents on the external surfaces, a collage of mirror splinters, unique handmade pieces. It can be high or low, with drawers and doors, with a neutral or smoked finish. For those looking for a twist.

5050 by Rodolfo Dordoni for Molteni & C.

Rigorous lines, glossy or opaque lacquered surfaces, wooden tops and leather details: the storage units of the 5050 collection are a succession of precious details and carefully studied to give life to a project that is appreciated both in the bedroom (where match it with the bedside tables of the same line) and in other rooms of the house.

Kumi by Carlo Colombo for Gallotti & Radice

Kumi by Gallotti&Radice

The ash structure is covered laterally and frontally by a hand-knurled band. The top is in beveled marble or in back-painted tempered glass, the handles are in mud-colored lacquered metal. A particular piece of furniture, with a contemporary and sophisticated design, the result of all these details and the careful choice of materials.

Giunone by Claudio Bitetti for Mogg

Giunone by Mogg

Giunone is a sideboard with austere shapes, characterized by cylindrical volumes that make up both the base and the accessory element placed on the top. Available in many colors or plated in heat-treated larch wood. Of great modernity and character.
