From Cersaie to the Milan design week, brands in the bathroom sector unveil new trends, all in the name of elegance
The bathroom of the future? It is admittedly elegant, refined in chromatic compositions and shapes, but also functional, with an eye always attentive to sustainability. In the foreground there are textures: the bathroom is a comfortable environment par excellence and the experience of use must be comfortable, starting from the touch. The surfaces are rounded, smooth, precious. The processing highlights the materials whose refinement is appreciated. It is a bathroom without superstructures but not design details: formal and technological innovations, new solutions and twists. All recurring elements in the examples below.
The distinctive trait of Lago’s design is knowing how to find practical solutions and dress them with beauty. The Kera washbasin (on the cover), with rounded shapes, in ceramic with matt enamel finish, can be placed on a shelf and on a storage unit. 36e8, on the other hand, is the washbasin with glass top and base with ample storage: a solution that combines refinement and practicality.
Salvatori’s bathrooms represent the most sublime declination of marble in the bathroom sector. Lost Stones is Piero Lissoni‘s collection of coverings inspired by the Japanese technique of Kintsugi: irregular marble fragments are mounted together, as if adjusted, and become precious through the creation of golden joints. Spaghetti texture, on the other hand, is a finish available for bathroom furniture fronts, designed by Elisa Ossino. It is a very refined process, despite the irreverent name, a texture obtained through a very accurate and meticulous process.
Antoniolupi’s new collections are ambitious and innovative. Anima Liquida, designed by Giorgio Rava, is a freestanding washbasin, whose contrasting elements of stone and water create a real sculpture. Made of ceppo di Gré, it has a stone cylinder instead of a tap and a delicate and poetic waterfall. The Borghi collection, designed by Gumdesign, expands with a line of freestanding bathtubs and countertop washbasins in Cristalmood, Antoniolupi’s material of choice, in always enchanting chromatic variations. Both the tub and the sink have generous dimensions, lightened by the typical narrower base. Apollo is the most innovative element of this year: it is a hybrid object, light and shower head at the same time. The tubular structure and the spherical bulb result, together, in an element with an industrial and elegant style at the same time.
On the occasion of the design week in Milan, Agape presented a series of additions to the collections and novelties. Among all, Evo21 is a system of containers designed by Giampaolo Benedini to adapt to all Agape washbasins thanks to the absence of the rear panel. The thermoformable solid surface tops (12mm) and the marble tops (20mm) can accommodate integrated washbasins. The proposal that combines the Evo21 container with the Lariana column washbasins designed by Patricia Urquiola is also interesting.
Classic but innovative is the Delfo system, presented today also in a compact 76cm version. Designed by Andrea Parisio and Giuseppe Pezzano, it is characterized by the oval ceramic base on which the bowl washbasin rests in combination with the storage unit. The color palette and the possible combinations are an important added value that make it interesting and recognizable.
