Discreet but sophisticated furnishings, the bench in the entrance is a scenic and functional presence
Entering your home and being welcomed in a refined, elegant, and tidy environment is not a foregone conclusion. To achieve this result, in fact, a conscious and generous design of the entrance is required, which takes care of the furnishings, lighting and specific functionality required. It is a space suspended between the outside and the inside, but it is also the place where you leave an overcoat or a bag, the keys, the mail. In which you look in the mirror, in which you are waiting for a family member or a guest. For this welcoming and waiting dimension, the most suitable furniture is the bench, discreet seat, elegant support, decorative element to be chosen carefully.
Passpartout by Federico Peri for Baxter
The poetic and skilful touch of Federico Peri gives life to this essential, evocative, and very elegant bench. The design consists of three elements, the two lateral ones characterized by a game of unexpected symmetries at the base and the central one, empty below. The painted metal with burnished brass details of the structure welcomes, in contrast, the softness of the padding and the delicacy of the many fabrics proposed for upholstery. A balanced combination of strength and grace, which, moreover, characterizes the entire production of the designer.
Fidelio by Roberto Lazzeroni for Poltrona Frau
Leather and solid wood are the materials chosen to express the Poltrona Frau style in this bench designed by Roberto Lazzeroni. The bench is deliberately slightly concave, and this detail gives an additional sense of visual and functional comfort. The contrasting stitching is a small and refined couture detail that evokes the high-level manufacturing with which this and all the company’s furnishings are made. The triangular section of the base elements is a modern touch of character.
Track by David Lopez Quincoces for Living Divani
Large and with a timeless style, the Track bench furnishes the entrance, bringing a note of strong character and a presence that stands out. The base is made up of thin metal elements and the upholstery, in leather or fabric, is quilted, a detail with a lived-in and sophisticated, almost sartorial flavor.
Five to Nine by Studiopepe for Tacchini
Studiopepe interprets the theme of the bench in an innovative and unexpected way. Five to Nine, on the cover, has the depth of a daybed and a completely original appearance: the surface is made up of a series of roller cushions that convey softness to the touch and sight. The painted wood structure gives additional warmth to the furniture which is configured as the perfect support to create a very elegant and welcoming entrance.
Barcelona by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe for Knoll
Designed by Mies van der Rohe in 1930, the Barcelona bench is the quintessence of modernism. Iconic and with a strong visual impact, it is the right choice for those who want to design a prestigious as well as welcoming entrance. The metal feet, the wooden top and the stitched upholstery are immediately recognizable and inimitable details.
Dip and Double Dip by Chris Howker for B&B Italia
Dip and Double Dip are two entrance benches in a completely new material: they are in fact 1.5mm thick stainless steel with sandblasted finish. The result is a sort of metal monolith, sculptural and discreet, with an industrial and sophisticated spirit.
Table Bench by Finn Juhl for House of Finn Juhl
House of Finn Juhl is the company that today deals with editing the Danish design projects of which it bears the name. Among these, the Table Bench is one of the most interesting: a bench, perfect for the entrance, whose design is a succession of refined details. Particularly noteworthy are the steel profiles, the result of the influence of the American design of the 1950s.
Pure by Matteo Thun for Riva 1920
The Pure bench is a return to origins: made from a single block of solid scented cedar wood, it is rustic and sophisticated at the same time and brings an element into the hall that evokes nature in an elegant and poetic way.
