Here’s how millennial pink became the stylish color of the moment
From a feminine and childish color to a must-have of sophisticated design: few colors have gone through a transformation as significant as that of pink, which for some years has become a new point of reference for design. Different inspirations converge in this chromatic choice: from the metaverse, in which pastel shades dominate, to the cinema, where pink is the protagonist in all its variations from the softest to the most blatant. Naturally, fashion also influenced this ascent: in this field, pink is no longer the color of little girls but rather a sophisticated, soft color that is the star of women’s and men’s collections. There is also a practical reason why this color is worth rediscovering: it is very easy to match and is halfway between cold and warm shades. That’s why, even at home, it can be the turning point to give character to the environment in a soft and refined way, thanks also to furnishings and accessories that underline its originality.
Pilot by Studio Brichet Ziegler and RSW’s Maket for Pulpo
The German brand Pulpo, which moves with casual creativity in the design of furniture and objects of character, has widely adopted pink in its collections. The shades of choice are blush pink and millennial pink and the former can also be found in the Pilota seating collection. It is a low conversation seat, whose structure is made up of two folded metal sheets on which two enveloping and comfortable upholstered elements rest. Few elements create a sculptural chair with character.
In the Maket vase, the combination of the delicacy of the pink with the rough surface of the unfinished ceramic inspired by cooled lava is very interesting and unprecedented: also in this case the design gives a captivating sculptural profile.
Bold Chair by Big Game for Mustache
Mustache is a Parisian brand that declines elegance in an eclectic and artistic way: the Bold chair, as the name suggests, has a dense but at the same time essential structure that plays with empty spaces and amuses the eye. The proportions are those of a traditional chair, but the structure is a joint of tubular metal covered with polyurethane foam and removable fabric. Pink is one of the vibrant colors available.
Series 7™ Velvet Edition by Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen
Even an icon like the Serie 7™ chair by Arne Jacobsen produced by Fritz Hansen is transformed and adopts a whole new style thanks to a chromatic choice devoted to pink and velvet upholstery. The metal structure acts as a support for the seat with an unmistakable shape that is obtained by subjecting nine layers of veneer to pressure. This treatment guarantees solidity to the chair which is visually minimal and comfortable to use.
Hortensia by Andrés Reisinger & Júlia Esqué for Moooi
Unique in its kind, the Hortensia armchair of Moooi, reproduces the beauty of nature in a bloom of pink petals in which to relax just like immersed in the corolla of a fragrant flower. It is a large and generous armchair that has a calming and relaxing effect even just to look at. The structure is metal and covered in polyurethane foam on which the special upholstery is applied which gives it its scenographic identity.
La Isla by Notes for Sancal
The name of this freestanding sofa is a promise: to welcome those who use it to an island of relaxation and beauty. It is like a soft platform in soft pink, the surface of which is punctuated by a play of backrests from which three separate spaces emerge in which to find the most comfortable position.
Masters by Philippe Starck and Eugeni Quitllet for Kartell
Masters is a tribute chair to three 20th century design icons: Series 7 by Arne Jacobsen, the Eiffel Chair by Eames and the Tulip by Saarinen. Philippe Starck and Eugeni Quitllet have merged these three seats to give life to a new and harmonious shape, now also available in the exclusive sweet pink color.
Liaison sofa by Luca Nichetto for La Manufacture
Liaison is a sofa that invites you to relax informally: the backrest is enveloping and the seat is deep and generous. Like a shell, it welcomes those who use it as an elegant and sophisticated refuge, which also declines perfectly in the shade of pink chosen by the designer.
Ruché by Inga Sempé for Ligne Roset
Minimal but with a feminine and lively touch: the Ruché sofa by Inga Sempé for Ligne Roset embodies the essence of the pink color in which its upholstery is proposed. The structure is made of wood and a sort of quilt is placed on it which acts as a seat and backrest, conveying an immediate sense of comfort and welcome.
