The colourful flat of Marcin Oz in the heart of Syracuse, Sicily

There are two primary colors, yellow and blue, and a variation on the theme, fuchsia. There is a pitched roof, parquet flooring, a retractable ladder and a loft. There are creations signed by Antonio Citterio, Daniele Lago and Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec. It could not be otherwise in the apartment of an alchemist of music who with his band, The Whitest Boy Alive, could mix indie, electro and funk.

Welcome to Marcin Öz’ apartment, renovated by the Sicilian architect Giorgia Amato (www.giorgiamato.com) in collaboration with Mohd for the furnitures. The flat is located in the ancient Ortigia, a small treasure in the historic center of Syracuse, where Marcin moved to dedicate himself to the cultivation of a vineyard (www.vinicampisi.it), and boasts a skilful blend of vintage items and contemporary style.

The space is divided in smaller, functional areas by colored volumes: blue for the bathroom, yellow for the living room and the bedroom, fuchsia for the study on the mezzanine, which also houses a double bed for guests. The entryway and kitchen corner can be isolated from the rest of the environment thanks to two sliding panels.

The main bedroom is essential and dominated by Fluttua, the charming one-legged bed by Lago.

The living room is lit up by the spectacular Aim lamp by Flos, which can enhance any space, “aiming” light at specific locations, and enriched by the classic twist of Lucrezia sofa by Maxalto.

In the entryway, colors are multiplied by Vitra’s Hang it All, while the loft, inevitably full of vinyls, hosts a suspended chest of drawers, handcrafted following a drawing by the architect and equipped with a retractable shelf that serves as a desk.
