There is one thing that makes the event 3daysofdesign<\/strong> unique in its kind and interesting enough on an international level: the ability to present design in the form of a story that runs through the entire city. In the case of Copenhagen, the design festival not only presents new goods but also creates events, engages historical locations, and develops a discourse between the objects themselves, the research behind them, and the imagination of visitors. This year, 2026, the organizers have chosen the very same strategy through installing several objects in the city that represent the concept of contemporary design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among this year\u2019s highlights is String Furniture<\/a><\/strong>, the iconic Swedish company that has embodied the principles of Scandinavian design since 1949. With the exhibition Faces for Spaces, the brand celebrates the flexibility and design intelligence that have made the String system a modern classic. Built on the idea that great design should adapt to the changing rhythms of everyday life, the modular system is presented through a series of configurations that quite literally take on human characteristics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each arrangement becomes a distinct personality, brought to life through objects, proportions, and carefully balanced details. It is an ironic yet poetic way of expressing the open-ended nature of a collection that continues to evolve while remaining true to its identity. Alongside String, visitors can also discover other contemporary classics from the brand, including Pira, Museum, and the recently launched Center Center, reaffirming a vision in which modularity and longevity are fundamental values.<\/p>\n\n\n

A no less powerful way to describe Bomma<\/a><\/strong>\u2019s contribution is by referring to Bomma, the Czech company producing lighting items crafted out of hand-blown glass. Bomma contributes to 3daysofdesign 2026 with Fragments of Light, an installation organized at Hofteatret, the 18th-century Court Theater which has just reopened after undergoing extensive renovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The setting of the theater provides a dramatic environment, with light, fabrics, and glass being combined in an almost surreal and theatrical manner, while the presence of live performances occurring within the space makes the experience even more vivid. The idea behind this installation is the transformation of materials which were supposed to become waste into objects of beauty, giving birth to a new sensory world.<\/p>\n\n\n

The theme of human connection also runs through The Drawing Room, the latest project marking the renewed collaboration between Secolo<\/a><\/strong> and TABLEAU. Presented at TABLEAU Gallery, the installation builds on a dialogue that began during Milan Design Week 2026 and revolves around the new modular evolution of the Trace sofa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Expanded to a monumental scale, reaching up to ten metres in length, the system becomes a domestic landscape designed to be explored and inhabited. The title references both the spontaneous act of drawing\u2014expressed through floral motifs created using the blind drawing technique\u2014and the historical meaning of the drawing room as a place for gathering, conversation, and social exchange. Visitors are encouraged to move freely through the installation, sit, linger, and ultimately become part of the environment itself, transforming the space into a collective experience.<\/p>\n\n\n

In the works shown at 3daysofdesign 2026 through modularity, sustainability, craft, and space exploration, it becomes clear that contemporary design is shifting away from individual objects to creating connections.
