In the beginning they were defined as “non-places” in a meaning that emphasized the absence of identity, the nature of passage, the intention not to be noticed. Since then, public spaces have profoundly changed, thanks to a turnaround in design that today aims to create welcoming spaces, with attention to the smallest details that increasingly resemble classy living rooms. Boutique hotels, bistros, cafes must make guests feel at home but in a refined and impeccable way. Starting with the furniture, for which we rely on prestigious companies that have the design of private spaces, the most elegant homes in their DNA. The furniture becomes an identifying element of the place, it determines its style and attractiveness. Even more than for the service offered, you choose a hotel, a restaurant or a caf\u00e9 based on its interior design. The reason? The balance between elegance and functionality, as these projects demonstrate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CH46<\/a> chiars by Carl Hansen & S\u00f8n<\/a> for the Blique by Nobis hotel in Stockholm<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Functional and distinctive, the chairs by Carl Hansen & S\u00f8n are a recurring presence in the Blique hotel in Stockholm (on the cover). The interiors are a blend of Scandinavian design, industrial style and classy details. Color combinations, choice of fabrics and mix of materials create a welcoming, contemporary and dynamic context, which reflects the identity of the city itself. Boketto is one of the two restaurants inside the hotel: here around the large tables are the CH47 chairs by Hans J. Wegner in black: large, comfortable and minimal. The CH46 and the KK97170 and CH53 stools serve as additional seats both in the rooms and in other common areas, open to both hotel guests and the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bentwood seats by Gebr\u00fcder Thonet Vienna are strongly identifying an informal but refined home. Iconic but simple, they represent an ancient manufacturing and design tradition that has been able to remain true to itself but also to evolve over time. Daily11 is a refined caf\u00e9 located in the historic part of Odessa: it retains an old European atmosphere with a contemporary twist. The Wiener Stuhl armchair and the n14 chairs were chosen for the tables inside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Gray<\/a> collection by Gervasoni<\/a> for Le Dimore dell\u2019Idris in Matera<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interiors in contemporary rustic style that enhance the stone, a recurring element in the historic buildings of Matera. Le Dimore dell\u2019Idris hotel naturally welcome the furnishings of the Gray collection by Gervasoni, also characterized by a strong materiality. The wood with its reference to natural elements, the pleasantness to the touch and the kindness of the shapes make the seats and the space as a whole welcoming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The furnishings by Vincent Van Duysen<\/a> for Molteni&C<\/a> for the August hotel in Antwerp<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A historic neoclassical building that was once the site of the military hospital has now been transformed into a refined hotel in Antwerp. The project is by Vincent Van Duysen who chose the furnishings he himself designed and produced by Molteni for the rooms and common areas. The building, which originally also housed a convent, still has got its charm and its architectural identity. In this context, Molteni furnishings confer refinement, comfort and international style.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Poliform<\/a> tables and chairs in the Brazil pavilion of the Milan Expo<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not just hotels, restaurants and cafes: even the spaces of a pavilion at an international fair become a space for sophisticated design. This is demonstrated by the Brazilian pavilion set up for Expo 2015 in Milan. Here, architect Arthur Casas commissioned Poliform to tailor-made furnishings for the dining area. In particular, the tables in Corian and the leather seats for the restaurant and the chairs in natural beech and the tables in Corian with metal tops for the bar area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
