Condensed of history and modernity, true design icons have the prerogative of maintaining a strong identity and at the same time knowing how to fit in with ease in today\u2019s living context. Each of them has its own interesting design history and often the prestige of having been chosen, originally, to be inserted in special, mythical places. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Companies that have a sense of heritage in their DNA and the desire to protect and talk about it know this well. This is why, also in 2024, the design panorama welcomes and celebrates a series of extraordinary designers, rediscovering and relaunching some of their projects which were disruptive and still today represent excellent solutions as well as character. These are collections conceived with logic, foresight and design wisdom but also with a formal identity capable of withstanding the test of time and still being appreciated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cornaro by Carlo Scarpa for Cassina<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1973 Carlo Scarpa<\/a><\/strong> designed this sofa which surprises with its still contemporary appeal. The distinctive feature is the structure in solid beech or ash wood which frames the generous padded elements from the floor to the backrest. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the re-edition Cassina<\/a><\/strong> decided to be faithful to the original project but at the same time give it a sustainable soul, essential today to deliver a collection to the future. And so, recycled PET fiber and polyurethanes, partly recycled and partly from biological sources, were chosen for the padding. The covers are removable.<\/p>\n\n\n

Serie 500 by Gianfranco Frattini for Tacchini<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was 1960 when Gianfranco Frattini<\/a><\/strong> conceived the Serie 500, now reissued by Tacchini. The idea starts from the concrete needs of those who live in the homes at that time: containing with order, furnishing the living room by reducing clutter and frills and rather opting for a dry style that Frattini interprets with almost Scandinavian taste in this collection. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two elements put back into production today by Tacchini<\/a><\/strong> are the low sideboard and the high sideboard, providing two furnishings that today, as then, are extraordinarily useful and beautiful at the same time.<\/p>\n\n\n

Faubourg rug by Eileen Gray for Classicon<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A few geometric strokes, black on white, are the incredible subject of the guache created by Eileen Gray<\/a><\/strong> in 1920. Starting from this avant-garde artistic intervention, Classicon<\/a><\/strong> created the Faubourg carpet collection. Minimalism of the very first hour, elegance and coherence with the recurring curves in Gray’s design are the characteristics of these carpets, still extraordinarily relevant today.<\/p>\n\n\n

Gomma by De Pas, D’Urbino, Lomazzi for Zanotta<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Colorful, robust but graceful: it is the Gomma armchair, designed in 1970 by the trio of designers De Pas, D’Urbino, Lomazzi<\/a><\/strong> and now reissued by Zanotta<\/a><\/strong>. The structure is in plywood and the feet in solid beech and in this contemporary version it features plant-based polyurethane foam padding, applied without glues, and removable fabric covering. Its playful profile is enhanced by the colors offered: green, blue and orange in bright shades.<\/p>\n\n\n

Tugendhat chair by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe for Knoll<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sophisticated and comfortable, elegant and familiar: the Tugendhat seat is one of Mies van der Rohe<\/a>‘s<\/strong> masterpieces and one of the most precious projects in Knoll<\/a>‘s<\/strong> heritage which today puts it back into production. <\/p>\n\n\n

The structure is in chromed or matt steel, a recurring sign in the designer’s production, with leather bands that make the backrest flexible and comfortable.
