The Air table by Lago

In 2006 Daniele Lago imagined Air, a completely new furnishing concept that from that moment will become the symbol of his company. Air, as the word itself suggests, is a tribute to transparency, it is the desire to let the light circulate and make the furniture light, like air.

The first project of the Air collection is the famous table, a true icon of the 2000s. The heart of the collection is the base of the table consisting of two legs in transparent tempered glass, resistant and 6 times harder than traditional glass. The glass makes the base almost invisible, but that’s not all. The two glass plates are positioned in such a way as to make the area under the top almost totally free and uncluttered so that the table is also extremely comfortable to use. The top seems to float in space and also in the choice of materials, the collection was conceived with great design intelligence. The classic Air table has a wooden top, with all its grain in plain sight that creates a creative, almost artistic contrast with the ethereal cleanliness of the glass. The lightened solid oak finish restores the warmth and irregularities of the wood surface to the touch, which thanks to a special treatment also becomes waterproof.

For a surface that is even more resistant to water and dirt, the XGlass coating is available: an innovative glass finish on which very refined effects are transferred – from classic marble to the most eclectic couture  – thanks to the most advanced digital printing. The top can also be in one of the many colors proposed by Lago in the lacquered version.

The neutrality of the glass and the variety of finishes available for the top make Air an extremely versatile collection that can adapt to interiors of various styles, not only domestic but also professional. The classic model is rectangular but Air can also be round, always with the same type of transparent glass base. The extendable version is also very interesting for the dining area: the extension is completely invisible, and the extensions can be in the same material as the top for a continuity effect, or in a different color or material to create an interesting contrasting pattern. For the living room area, Air is also available in the low rectangular or round coffee table format in the usual finishes. Also in this case the profile of the furniture is strong but at the same time discreet: the Air coffee table, thanks to its formal lightness, easily integrates into any type of living room.

Tempered glass is therefore the recurring and characterizing element of this collection which over time has become a real concept and has been enriched with many other furnishings to be included in the different rooms of the house. The Air bed, double or single, is a real sculpture to be placed in the sleeping area together with the bedside tables, making the whole essential and light. As well as the desk, ideal for inserting a study area that is elegant and discreet at the same time. And again, the bookcase with shelves, even asymmetrical, which seem to float in the air. In the living room, Air also becomes a sofa, with an incredibly ethereal and light appearance, an equipped wall in the name of formal cleanliness and visual order and a sideboard: an extremely roomy container element with a new design.

The Air collection, in addition to being iconic, is a real joker of design: thanks to the breadth of the collection and the interesting but discreet design, it can be the solution to many furnishing needs and an ally for declining your own style with colors and different finishes.
