To inhabit a landscape means engaging with its openness, its rhythms, its light. It is from this vision that a measured residential project takes shape on a hillside overlooking Auckland’s coastal panorama—an architecture that defines its own language in perfect harmony with the surrounding environment.
The project was developed and refined by Mohd’s team of architects and interior designers, working in close dialogue with the client to translate needs, aspirations, and context into a tailored, coherent, and high-quality result.
The floor plan reveals an open, well-balanced layout, where functions follow one another without interruption. The spaces open outward with lightness, unfolding in a continuous flow of intimate, luminous interiors designed to accompany everyday gestures with natural ease.
Full-height windows and large sliding doors dissolve the boundary between inside and out, projecting the interiors toward a panoramic terrace with sweeping views of the ocean and Auckland’s skyline. The living area is organized into multiple zones of comfort: from the lounge, divided into distinct conversation areas, the flow leads seamlessly to the dining space, complemented by an island kitchen.
The living area extends outward onto a spacious covered terrace, furnished as a natural continuation of the indoors. Here, the outdoor setting unfolds around a generous composition designed for moments of relaxation and quiet contemplation.
An adjustable louvered pergola allows the light to shift throughout the day, shaping an ever-changing atmosphere that responds to the sun and wind.
Inside, every space is conceived with precision, balancing functionality with comfort. The island kitchen opens directly onto the dining area, supporting a fluid sense of conviviality.
The TV room, set slightly apart, is defined by low seating and enveloping volumes, creating an informal, cocoon-like atmosphere.
The interior design embraces a neutral palette of sandy tones, warm greys, and dark wood accents.
Materials alternate with subtle rhythm: natural stone surfaces, wall cladding, tactile fabrics, and densely woven rugs come together to create a domestic landscape that is both refined and intimate. Furnishings are selected with restraint and placed with care, avoiding decorative excess and giving space to materiality, light, and architectural proportion.
