Final outcome of the brilliant collaboration between the Australian architectural practice Forty One South and Mohd’s Interior Design experts, this luminous cottage placed in the charming suburb of Middle Park enhances the refined features of its old architectural structure, symbiotically combined with a brand new, modern design.
Refined point of junction between functional contemporaneity and traditional heritage, the once-abandoned rooms of the cottage appear now masterfully segmented in some generous, coherent environments. The innovative, impactful flair of the interior ambiences is gently hidden behind a classical Victorian street facade.
The ambiences longitudinally shape a continuum, placing right at its core an outdoor central courtyard. This peculiar element allows natural light to gently saturate the interior spaces, reflected by the glass elements and the windows.
Extending sideways along the perimeter, the latter join a floating, open-tread staircase that accompanies upwards the observer’s gaze.
A deep chromatic contrast permeates both the indoor and the outdoor environments of the cottage. The harmonious alternation of black shades and white tones is furtherly enhanced by the presence of marble, whose veined texture embraces the neutral colors of the whole ambience, shaping a paradoxically vibrant atmosphere and creating, with the interference of light, a chromatic symmetry.
