Miscela d’Oro: the new project in the heart of Messina designed by Piero Lissoni with the kitchen led by Filippo La Mantia

Miscela d’Oro: the new project in the heart of Messina designed by Piero Lissoni with the kitchen led by Filippo La Mantia

The famous Milanese studio Lissoni & Partners has signed a new concept in the historic center of the city

A triumph of Sicilianity in an architectural unicum able to combine contemporary trends: it is the style that distinguishes the choice of one of the undisputed masters of world design, involved for the first time in Sicily in an extraordinary project.

The architect and designer Piero Lissoni has signed the new project for a historic place in the heart of Messina in the central Piazza Cairoli, the most important square in the city.

Messina is embellished thanks to the signature of the Lissoni & Partners studio, which has made a baroque palace dating back to the 1920s shine, for decades a city symbol with the former Billè bar.

The kitchen is led by the chef from Palermo Filippo La Mantia, famous for the well-known restaurant in Milan.

The merit of the initiative is from Miscela d’Oro S.p.A., an artisanal roasting company from Messina since 1946, which has been producing coffee for three generations and exports the name of the city abroad. The client chose to carry out a project in the name of the best design both on an architectural level and for the choice of furnishing elements and, with this significant project, impressed a strong identity and transmitted an encouraging message of restart. Special thanks to the Urbano family for choosing Mohd for the supply of the furnishings.

Mohd oversaw the selection of iconic design elements such as sofas, armchairs and wicker chairs.

Ancient Palermo majolica set in tall columns, glazed lava stone in the floor and vertical surfaces, living rooms with some Sicilian antiques, shelves and glass that open along the ceiling, wooden boiserie and custom-made benches, the green water color of the counter dominates the black color of Etna, an open kitchen intrigues the user. Elements and gradations that start from an accurate search for fine and typical materials and processes, with the aim of surprising and embellishing relaxing and sunny atmospheres.

A space linked  to the art of coffee, inspired by the history of Sicilian hospitality, with a path that goes from pastry to cooking. This is not a classic cafeteria, but the gastronomic offer ranges from breakfast, ice cream, cocktails to catering, but above all an environment capable of making you feel at home. A design idea that immediately fascinated chef Filippo La Mantia and prompted him to deepen the extraordinary culinary history of the province of Messina.
