Artemide 2026: light as a design language

Through new collections and immersive installations, Artemide redefines the role of light at Milan Design Week 2026, turning it into a relational tool between material, space and perception.

For Artemide, light is never an accessory, but a device that shapes space. At Milan Design Week 2026, the brand introduces a new chapter in which technological research and material sensitivity converge into a coherent, layered vision, spanning product and installation.

The 2026 collection explores the relationship between technical precision and sensory expression. With the Boltons table lamp, designed by Herzog & de Meuron, glass becomes a field of optical investigation: a transparent structure integrates a lens that directs the beam toward a movable reflector, allowing light to be modulated through a minimal gesture. The result is an object in which light multiplies and continuously reshapes the perception of form.

Alongside it, the Ulrich und Diotima wall lamp by Carlotta de Bevilacqua operates on the contrast between geometric rigor and the unpredictability of matter. Craquelé glass, marked by micro-fractures, transforms light into a vibrant, dynamic presence, while the integrated LED technology recedes, allowing an essential, precisely calibrated form to emerge.

The exploration extends to colour with the Ruby Red Collection, where a new intense hue redefines well-known pieces such as Nesso, Dalù and Tolomeo Micro. Colour is not applied as a surface, but as a structural element that alters perception and intensifies the relationship between light and space.

During Design Week, Artemide expanded its narrative beyond the product. With Light Knot Progression, developed with BIG – Bjarke Ingels Group for INTERNI, light becomes architecture. Within the spaces of the Università degli Studi di Milano, a sequence of luminous knots unfolds across eleven arches, translating the creative process into a continuous visual progression.

In parallel, the Corso Monforte flagship offered a more intimate setting, where the new collections were presented in their formal and material precision. Here, the project engaged with the domestic scale, maintaining the tension between technical innovation and perceptual quality.

Between urban installations and new collections, Artemide constructs a coherent narrative in which light emerges as a design language. No longer a mere function, but an element capable of connecting disciplines, defining atmospheres and shaping new ways of living.
