Back to work: the never-ending configurations of the USM Haller system

The design of the workspace places functionality as a priority but without neglecting style and this is true both at home and in the office.

Returning to the desk after the holidays to work, study or delve into a topic of interest often comes with the need to reorganize the space to favor concentration and adapt it to habits that change over time.

Organization and flexibility are two key concepts in today’s interior design in which there is a desire to make life simpler and more fluid by accommodating the changeability of actions and spaces.

This is also why the Swiss company USM Modular Furniture continues to be a point of reference in this sector, whose famous line of USM Haller furniture starts from functionality and then extends to style in an ideal dynamic for furnishing the workspace and the home in general. It is no coincidence that since 2001 it has been part of the permanent collection of the MOMA in New York.

At first glance, there are two elements that capture attention: the chromed brass and the color, available in 14 variants.

The first is the material chosen for the joint system that makes it possible to achieve the extreme modularity of the system by keeping the chromed steel connecting tubes together.

The second is the creative ingredient, the touch of style that allows the system to be integrated into very different contexts, giving it an appearance that can be austere or playful, formal or familiar.

It is about getting to the essence of the design to provide the user with the tool to create a configuration tailored to the needs of the moment and the space available. But also, to be able to use the same elements to create, at a later time, a completely new configuration, moving, adding new elements, intervening to increase or decrease the whole.

The system works in every room of the house and is particularly appreciated where effective organization is required.

The space dedicated to work, whether it is a corner of the living room or an independent room, can therefore be furnished considering the need for a support surface but also open and closed storage elements for documents, volumes and study materials. But also prototypes, small tools and other accessories specific to the work or study that is being carried out.

The system lends itself to creating configurations suitable both for the wall and for the center of the room and the solutions designed to create a study corner in a small space by enhancing an unused corner of the house are also interesting. With the additional advantage of being able to reuse, in the future, the same elements in a different context, as they are or as the basis for a new configuration that uses the same system of tubes, joints and panels, but, for example, adding additional elements.

In short, the USM Haller modules can move in time and space because in addition to adapting to changing needs, they also become useful in different spaces, fulfilling a further need of the present: ensuring that the furnishings have a long and efficient and therefore sustainable life.
