Bringing together heritage, highly integrated systems and solutions for indoor and outdoor spaces, Best of Castaldi 2026 reflects a design culture that places light at the service of architecture.
More than a simple collection of new products, Best of Castaldi 2026 offers a cross-sectional reading of nearly ninety years of research into light. Historic icons, technical systems and contemporary solutions come together in a journey through interiors, architecture and landscape. Heritage, Ceiling, Track Systems and Outdoor become four perspectives on the same idea: controlled, technically rigorous light able to integrate naturally into architecture.
A design culture before a selection
“Light is our mission”, Castaldi’s long-standing motto, opens Best of 2026. Soon after, “Light for every space” — the title of the section devoted to architecture — introduces a journey in which light moves from interiors to façades, from pathways to open spaces. More than a statement of intent, it provides the key to the entire collection: understanding light as an integral part of architecture, regardless of scale or context.
From this premise emerges a selection that brings together heritage and research, more visible luminaires and more discreet presences, indoor systems and solutions conceived for the landscape. What connects them is a way of thinking about design rather than a particular form or technology.
Heritage: evolving without losing identity
The Heritage section entrusts Egeo, Sosia and Tortuga with expressing this sense of continuity.
Egeo, conceived in 1960 to illuminate the quays of the Port of Brindisi, still retains its compact silhouette and distinctive 45° light opening. Materials and technology have evolved, leading to today’s LED versions and a new indoor interpretation, while the original design remains clearly recognisable.
The same principle runs through Sosia and Tortuga, two projects dating from the late 1970s and early 1980s that remain part of the collection today. Castaldi’s Heritage therefore looks to the past not as something to preserve unchanged, but as design material still capable of evolving.
Towards an increasingly discreet presence
If Heritage explores what endures, the Ceiling and Track Systems sections show how technology can gradually recede within its surroundings.
The Hop-e family explores different degrees of integration, extending to trimless versions that reduce the visual presence of the luminaire to a minimum. With Hop-s, miniaturisation becomes even more radical: an extremely compact recessed fixture designed for contexts where even the smallest technical space becomes part of the overall composition.
The same research continues through the track systems. Track, Microtrack and Nanotrack move from a more visible structure towards an increasingly subtle presence, progressively reducing the visual impact of the infrastructure in favour of the perception of light itself. Tracks, optics and modules thus become a flexible system, able to adapt to architecture without imposing upon it.
From interiors to landscape
Outdoors, the principle remains the same while the scale changes. Snap focuses on beam precision, Tellux on integration into surfaces, while Rosebud, Nail, Disc and On establish more explicit relationships with pathways, vegetation and architecture.
It is perhaps here that “Light for every space” takes on its broadest meaning: light not conceived to occupy space, but to interpret it, accompanying its geometries, materials and depth.
One project, across time
Founded in 1938 by Enrico Castaldi, the company has built its identity around the dialogue between technological research, manufacturing quality and design culture. Best of Castaldi 2026 brings this history into focus without turning it into a chronology, placing products created more than sixty years ago alongside systems developed for contemporary architecture.
They are connected by the same question: how can light become part of architecture without imposing itself on it?
Best of Castaldi 2026 appears to find its answer in continuity itself. Between memory and innovation, presence and restraint, interiors and landscape, light remains the element that holds the entire project together.
