Jaime Hayon’s eclectic style meets the strong character of BD Barcelona in the new Eclipso and Showtime collections, which showcase his creative maturity.
It was 1972 when a group of designer friends, meeting at a Barcelona club, decided to form a creative collective; thus was born BD Barcelona, the brand that still has its home in the Spanish city today. Since then, the company has always pursued authenticity and uniqueness, designing with courage and unafraid to experiment. The result? Each product is a true icon, in which the artistic soul merges with the functional expression of the furniture.
Among the designers BD Barcelona has collaborated with over the years is Jaime Hayon, whose style, a blend of industrial design, graphics, and sculpture, seems tailor-made to complement the brand’s production profile. The latest collections presented by Hayon for BD are Eclipso and Showtime, joining the already iconic Explorer and Lounger collections. These distinct collections, each with its own identity, are also permeated by a stylistic coherence that makes them seamlessly combinable.

Eclipso
The Eclipso collection recalls the lunar eclipse and its soft light that softens the corners. It can be considered the most mature expression of Hayon’s style, a style that has become more essential compared to the creative flair of his early days. He himself commented: “The idea behind ECLIPSO stems from my desire to return to simplicity, to what I call ‘minimum with maximum.'” The collection includes numerous pieces: a table, coffee table, side table, chairs, stools, and shelves, all characterized by rounded and substantial shapes. The color palette confirms a refined return to naturalness, with shades ranging from beige to brown, from green to red, and even blue.
Showtime
Showtime is the chair collection designed by Hayon and introduced by BD Barcelona in 2007. Today, it returns in a new version, more in tune with the designer’s mature sensibilities, featuring a simpler structure, more refined lines, and a warm and sophisticated color palette. This chair also features rounded shapes, and the seat is like a cradle that gracefully welcomes you, while the backrest envelops the body. The formal richness of the chair’s upper section is counterpointed by the essentiality of the base, composed of four slender steel legs, available in three configurations: classic, swivel, and with wheels.
Explorer
Exploring new formal and stylistic territories is one of the vocations shared by Jaime Hayon and BD Barcelona, and Explorer is the name of a collection that is undoubtedly experimental in its aesthetics. It is a broad collection that ranges from dining tables to sideboards and from storage units with shelves to coffee tables. All share robust shapes, vibrant colors, and structural elements that stand out as graphic accents. Color is another defining element of this collection, with choices and combinations that convey the intention and exploratory courage of Hayon and the company.
Lounger
Lounger is not just a seat for relaxation but also a historical reference, a strong formal reference to the quintessential lounge chair, designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1956. The style of the seat is determined by the deliberately exposed structure and its shape that embraces the sitter. The padded areas provide additional comfort, both in use and visually, inspiring moments of absolute relaxation. Slightly tilted backward, the seat can be complemented by its footrest and paired with the Low Lounger.
