With De Sede outdoor is the new indoors

“Outdoor is the new indoor” is the claim with which the De Sede brand introduced its first collection for outdoor spaces. The company was born in 1962 in Klingnau, Switzerland, thanks to the resourcefulness of Ernst Lüthy who decided to focus, initially, on high-quality, custom-made leather upholstery.

Year after year the company grows, expands on the international market and expands its production, always maintaining its initial vocation of artisanal and exclusive upholstery. The expansion continues and over the years the production involves prestigious designers such as Santiago Calatrava, Gordon Guillaumier, Mathias Hoffman, Antonella Scarpitta who give shape to the De Sede style in which abundant proportions, organic shapes, innovative and original designs recur.

A recognizable style that we find today in the collection designed for an outdoor space with a strong character. The idea of ​​expanding production in this direction was born precisely from a customer’s desire to bring De Sede furnishings onto his yacht. Technological research and research into the most suitable materials was born from this solicitation: antibacterial, anti-mould textiles, non-oxidising and scratch-resistant metal parts, suitable and treated wood for outdoors. These characteristics, combined with the distinctive style of the brand, contribute to pursuing the objective of offering six collections of furniture made to last over time.

DS 164 Slide

The DS 164 Slide is one of the most interesting products in De Sede’s outdoor collection: the word “slide” indicates the possibility of rotating the backrest of this sofa and transforming it into a chaise longue. A dynamic game that allows the space to take on different functions but also to make the atmosphere more relaxed.

DS 167 Island

We also find the same versatility in the DS167 Island sofa with its essential and rounded shapes. The backrest can be configured in a classic way or divided into two sliding elements and therefore transform the seat offering new experiences of use. Precisely for this reason the sofa is perfect both on the wall and in the center of the room and offers different layouts for the outdoor seating area.

DS 266 Yoga

The word yoga evokes flexibility and resilience and these two characteristics make the DS266 seat interesting but also attractive from a formal point of view. It is a perfect balance of geometric shapes and comfort, rigorous and soft lines. This is accompanied by the dual possibility of use since the armchair can accommodate a straight and composed seat but also a more relaxed and informal session.

DS 80 Memory

Ds 80 Memory is an outdoor daybed designed to accommodate daytime dreams but also conversations in company. The wood is suitable and treated to resist atmospheric agents as well as the fabrics and padded parts guarantee ventilation and comfort, counteracting water stagnation in case of rain and wet conditions.

DS 600 Snake

The DS 600 Snake sofa is perhaps the one that most of all identifies the sculptural profile of the De Sede style. The name evokes its shape, the sinuous one of a snake which can take on infinite curves and lengths thanks to the modularity of the base element. The original design dates to 1972 and today, thanks to the use of waterproof and water-repellent fabrics, it also becomes perfect for outdoors.

DS 1025 Terrazza

This seat, beautiful and comfortable, evokes the terraces of a hill and for this reason it is perfect for decorating the outdoor space in a decorative way. Thanks to the different levels of the seat, it is possible to use it for chatting, reading, resting and relaxing and it integrates perfectly into any natural setting.
